There are many textbooks on orcad capture schematic design and simulation but few books on Cadence Allegro PCB layout editor. This is a good PCB design tutorial eBook using Cadence Allegro. It is not only special because it is rare book that teaches how to use allegro PCB layout editor but also because it explains other PCB layout issues such as mounting holes sizes, pads drill hole sizes, standards and rules that are not known to new comers.
The first chapter is an introductory chapter on overall PCB layout design process. Then the second chapter is a simple PCB design tutorial that explains the PCB layout design process. The third chapter explains the PCB design files generated by the Allegro PCB layout editor. The fourth chapter is about industry standards. The fifth chapter is about mechanical aspect of PCB layout design. The sixth chapter is about electrical aspects such as signal integrity, electromagnetic interferences. Chapter seven is about how to create parts using capture Pspice model editor. Chapter eight then explains the padstack and footprints. Here examples are provided on how to create footprints, how to design discrete through hole and surface mount devices. Chapter nine contains complete PCB design tutorial example with more complex electronics system.
