Labview 2012 from National instrument is a graphical programming tool used by researchers, scientists and engineers around the globe. It is a graphical system design tool that can be used for example to design pulse code modulation system, digital modulation, encoders decoders, multiplexers with the use of VI modules. How to design pcb in orcad?
Orcad cadence is a popular pcb design software used by professional engineers around the globe. Here how one can learn to design pcb using orcad pcb software quickly is described. First of all you have to download cadence orcad pcb software.
The major general steps to designing a pcb with orcad are:
Once you have downloaded the orcad software, you have to start the orcad schematic capture which is a tool where you can enter the schematics or circuit diagram of the electronics system which you want to design. This requires you to place parts from libraries. There are two kinds of libraries, one that has footprints, part symbol with simulation information and those with only part symbol but without simulation information and/or footprints. Any part used in electronic system design prototyping need its schematic symbol for identification, simulation profile(how it works) and footprints(for pcb generation). If there is no part symbol(and/or simulation profile) then you have to create a new one which you can do so either from orcad capture window or from the model editor application.
Once the schematics of the electronic system to be designed is complete. The next step is to perform simulation. Once the simulation is verified the schematics parts are assigned their footprints. If there is no footprint available then you have to either search for footprint or create a new one using pad designer or using the new part option in the orcad PCB designer.Then the next step is annotation(giving unique identification names to parts) and perfrom DRC(Design Rule Check) to check any error. If there is no DRC then you can create a netlist of your circuit.
This netlist is required by the PCB designing software. During the netlist creation you have the option to automatically open the Orcad PCB editor(or you can independently open the PCB editor and go to open menu to open the netlist file). Once the PCB editor is open you have to create a board outline and start placing components both mechanical components that will hold the pcb board and the electrical components(capacitor, resistors, amplifiers etc).
If it is required to have more than two layers then multiple layers has to defined next. After this pouring of copper planes and construction of vias and the fanout has be carried out. Then the spacing between the copper traces, length width of the copper traces and other electrical and non electrical constraints have to be defined prior to routing the traces using the constraint manager. Once the constraints are defined the next step is to perform routing. The routing can be performed manually for critical nets(for eg power and ground nets) and fixing such nets and then the auto-routing to non-critical nets can be applied for speed-up. The last step is to generate artwork which contains all the information of the pcb to be manufactured, this file(extension usually gerber) is sent to the pcb board manufacturer.

As an overview example on application of this electronics board design software - it can be used for drawing schematics diagram of an electronics circuit. Then the designed electronics circuit can be analyzed such as performing S11 and S21 S-parameter analysis, smith chart analysis. Another great feature of this pcb board design software is that the values of the circuit components can be varied easily and simultaneously check the output graph to optimize the electronic component value for desired output. This work is much easier to do in agilent genesys than for example in cadence orcad software. Also in agilent genesys electronics board design software circuit schematics of any transmitter or receiver can be designed easily and then the spectrum of signal at any node in the designed circuit can be viewed by simply clicking on the desired node and clicking on the spectrum option that pops out. The best part of genesys is that the once the transmitter or receiver is designed the power level link budget can be viewed on a graph. This means that the gain and attenuation power level in dB at input and output of each components such as mixer, amplifiers, filters can be viewed. This gives many information of the system performance. For example it can be used to see which component is causing unexpected power loss and which component can be modified to obtain desired better output power level. Moreover, the input power in dB can be varied with easy scroll part and the power link budget in the circuit will be changed automatically.
Other advantages of using this electronics board design software is the automatic optimization of components values, automatic generation of strip lines and pcb layout. Then using this pcb board design software the pcb layout can then be optimized further with agilent momentum electromagnetic tool at desired frequencies. The optimized circuit can then be transferred to the PCB layout tool to generate the Geber PCB files for manufacturing. Agilent Genesys pcb board design software also supports 3D view of the designed pcb board with the components on it so that engineers can visualize the final design.

Diptrace PCB circuit board prototyping tool has schematic editors, pcb layout editors, simulation and analysis tools, error checking capabilities like ERC, DRC, manual and auto routing capabilities, generates bill of materials(BoM) reports, Gerber PCB files, NC drill files, DFX files and others.
It has also easy to use interface, with library of components of different electronics manufacturers such as National Semicoductor, Analog Device, Philips etc. The part search is very easy to use and is at the top horizontal bar with names of the manufacturing companies. If there is no part available then the part can be created and imported into the Diptrace software.
Some of the difference between the Orcad capture PCB circuit board prototyping software and Diptrace are like the zoom in and out capability which is found in Diptrace but not in Orcad capture. Another difference is that when any wire is hovered with the mouse the wire becomes highlighted showing the wire connection to different part in the design. This is useful in a large project circuit board.Diptrace PCB manufacturing software is easy to start and learn. This educational game project can be used in a quiz competition to see which of the participants press the button first to answer questions posed by the quiz master. This constructional project is based on a latch CD74HC75 IC and a 4 input CD74AC20 NAND IC. The first person to press the switch will light up the LED designated for the person. The rest of the LEDs will not be able to be activated until the RESET button is pressed.

Initially when RESET button is pressed, the output of NAND gate from U2A will be logic "0" as all the inputs are at logic "1"state. As shown in the truth table for NAND gate, when all the inputs are "1", its output will be "0". Hence the output of NAND gate from U2B will be logic "1" since an input of "0" will cause it to go to logic "1". The logic "1" to the latch indicates that it is ready to output any data once any of the button is pushed.
If the first button pushed is S1, the logic at its output 1Q will be logic "0" and caused LED1 to light up. At the same time,it caused the output of U2A to go into logic "1". Hence the output of U2B will be logic "0" causing the latch to be disable which means that the outputs of all the latches will be at their previous state. As a result, the player who pressed button S1 will be shown as the one who is first to press the button and so qualify to answer the question.
The RESET button will be pressed by the quiz master to prepare the circuit for the next game.

Looking for a simple time delay circuit? In the design of analog circuits, there are times when you would need to delay a pulse that came into a circuit before being used for the next process. This circuit uses a 555 timer to delay a pulse that comes in to a maximum time of 75 seconds. The timing of the delay can also be changed by changing the resistor value of VR1 and the capacitor value of E based on the time delay formula of t=0.69RC.
Once a pulse is applied to the input, transistor Q1 will turn OFF and pin 4 reset pin is held to high. This caused the capacitor E1 to be discharged through VR1 resistor. The time delay will depend on the discharged of capacitor E to a third of the supply before the output of 555 goes high. Experiment with different values of VR1 and E to get different time delay.
If the maximum value of potentiometer is set to 5M ohm, the time delay of the pulse will be 75 seconds.
